SNi50: the new Stormshield industrial firewall takes over from the SNi40

Stormshield is renewing its range of industrial firewalls. The SNi50 has been available to order since 9 June 2026 and succeeds the SNi40, which protected our clients’ operational networks for ten years. As a Stormshield partner in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, IT1 Connect deploys and monitors this new model for SMBs, mid-sized companies and public authorities whose business depends on an industrial network (OT, for Operational Technology).
A direct successor to the SNi40
The SNi50 is not merely an update: it replaces the SNi40 at a comparable price, while bringing more connectivity, higher reliability and a longer service life. The SNi40 served as a first industrial firewall for ten years; the SNi50 takes over on a modernised hardware platform, certified to IEC 62443, which makes regulatory compliance easier. - 10 network interfaces: 8 copper ports at 2.5 Gbit/s and 2 SFP+ ports at 10 Gbit/s,
- firewall throughput up to 20 Gbit/s and IPS throughput of 15 Gbit/s,
- up to 750 IPsec VPN tunnels for secure remote maintenance of your sites,
- deep packet inspection (DPI) of more than ten industrial protocols: Modbus, OPC UA, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, S7,
- firmware developed in France and certified by ANSSI, the national cybersecurity agency.
Protecting extended operational networks
An industrial site often spreads across several buildings, or even several remote locations. The density of copper and fibre interfaces on the SNi50 makes it possible to segment those networks finely and isolate the sensitive zones. Three principles guide how we integrate it:
- a hybrid deployment, which slots into your existing architecture without rebuilding it,
- a unified security policy, to bring your IT and industrial (OT) environments together,
- deep inspection of industrial protocols (DPI), which checks that commands are used correctly without interrupting production.
Availability designed for production
On a production line, a firewall outage must not stop the work. The SNi50 combines several mechanisms to keep the service running, including during a fault or a maintenance operation:
- two pairs of interfaces with a bypass mode, which let traffic through even if the firewall stops,
- a very low probability of failure, with a stated MTBF of 108 years,
- automatic failover to a redundant firewall (active/passive high availability),
- dual power supplies, so as not to depend on a single electrical source.
Hardware built for the industrial environment
Technical cabinet, workshop or substation: the SNi50 is ruggedized for conditions that office equipment cannot withstand.
- a reinforced, fanless chassis, so no wearing parts and no air intake,
- DIN rail mounting and an industrial power supply, to fit into your cabinets,
- an IP40 protection rating, against objects larger than 1 mm (debris, screws),
- an operating range from -40 to +70 °C,
- resistance to electromagnetic stress attested by IEC 61850-3 certification.
End of life for the SNi40: plan the transition
The SNi40 is reaching the end of its commercial life. It will no longer be available to order from 15 July 2026, and remaining stock is limited. The SNi50 takes over from now, with first deliveries expected from the end of June.
If you already run an SNi40, there is no rush: your equipment stays maintained and monitored by our teams. We plan its replacement at the right moment, according to the end of support, an extension project or the renewal of your estate. If you are planning a purchase, however, it is better to bring it forward to avoid any shortage.
